Technical crisis in the humanist world
It is well known fact, that humanist professions are very popular nowadays. Since school a lot of people consider such profession to be very attractive. With such an viewpoint they are reared in their families, go to high school, to a institute and after all they begin bringing up their own children that way. Deadlock.
Why is it so? What do make people think that engineering sciences have lost their significance?
There are several causes.
First of all modern engineering reached such a high level of progress that society is capable of operating it without having special technical education. thereby there is no sense for subsequent diffusion of technological education. Humanits use begins prevailing in all spheres of life.
second it is an actual fact that we are in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They like to depict everything and use things, but not to produce something by themselves. Of course this fact does not affect positively on diffusion of engineering education. People are simply not interested in it.
In the third place is the fact that the resource base has reached such a extent of devastation that we often have no place for practice after studying the theory.
Finally a very significant thing is the policy of the state. What professions does it suppose as called-for nowadays? We can easily get to know it by researching our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what professions do they promote today? It is easy to prove that they are full of non-technical images. Mass-media display us pleasant, nice way of life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a after all?
Lack of competent workers in the technical sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a jointer planer. This will cause a difficult situation when we will be lacking very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally destroyed. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no experienced lecturers able to educate worthy personnel working in non-humanist spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our country do in order to correct the state? it is clear that there are several actions to be taken. First of all our education system should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. education system should do its best in order to popularize technical professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to preserve technological specialities is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
